aware of the benefits of electronic distribution channels and
offers them to customers whenever it serves their interests.
At the beginning of 2011, Edita Press was merged into
Edita Publishing. This expanded the company’s service
offering to communications services – to corporate publica-
tions, for instance customer magazines and annual reports.
During the year, the company gained significant new
customers.
Demand for communications services is predicted to grow
in Finland in 2012. Edita Publishing’s revenue from com-
munications services is expected to grow by up to 50 percent
during the year. Edita Publishing has sought, and to some
degree found, new partners in areas that include content cre-
ation, electronic publishing and programming. Cooperation
between Edita’s group companies is expected to lead to sig-
nificant customer projects. In 2011, Edita Publishing had an
average of 76 employees.
2012
In 2012, Edita Publishing has three key targets:
•
Growth
, that is to say expanding operations when meas-
ured in revenue. A significant share of revenue growth will
be built on the work carried out in 2011. An essential fac-
tor will be the effect that the general economic situation has
on customers’ opportunities to use the company’s services.
Growth will to a great extent be generated by publication ser-
vices, in particular by communications services. The need for
legal information will increase with new legislation passed by
parliament.
•
Profitability
. The company’s profitability has remained
good while the business environment has changed. The goal
is to maintain the current level of operating profit.
•
Flexibility of the company and individuals.
In the
changing operating environment, Edita Publishing needs to
be shaped into an agile company that reacts smoothly to cus-
tomer requirements. At the level of an individual, this means
new and challenging tasks.
