Anni Vuohijoki ended her successful career in powerlifting in 2013 in order to fully concentrate on weightlifting.
In April 2016 she placed eighth at the European Championships in Norway, highest among Finnish female lifters.
When Finland was subsequently awarded an Olympic quota place, she was selected to go to Rio. Anni works a
physical instructor and coaches weightlifters herself. She holds a university diploma in civil engineering and plans to
begin studies for a degree in medicine after the Olympic Games.
