Tero Välimäki surprised Finnish wrestling fans by winning a ticket to the Olympic Games at the qualification tour-
nament in Ulan Bator, Mongolia in April. Rio de Janeiro will mark the culmination of a long wrestling career. Tero
began professional training only at the age of 23, when he joined the team of two-time Olympic medallist Marko
Yli-Hannuksela. His best result before this year was eighth place at the European Championships of 2014 in Vantaa,
Finland. Tero’s brother Henri Välimäki is also a national team wrestler.
