Taru Kuoppa won her ticket to Rio at the very last moment at the final world qualification tournament in Antalya,
Turkey in June. Taru was a promising national team archer around the turn of the millennium, but she eventually
lost her motivation and quit the sport in 2004. She started again nine years later and made a quick return to
Finnish elite. In 2014 Taru came close to winning her first international medal, finishing fourth with Antti Tekoniemi
in mixed team competition at the European Championships in Armenia. Outside of archery Taru’s favourite pursuits
are golf, snowboarding and fishing.
