Event: High jump

Linda Sandblom becomes the first Finnish female high jumper at the Olympic Games since 1976.

In June she made a new Finnish record of 193 centimetres which equals the qualifying standard for the Rio Games.

That also earned her a place at the European Championships in Amsterdam, where she placed thirteenth. Linda

hails from Hanko, the southernmost town of Finland. She is a qualified kindergarten teacher.

Sanni Utriainen

Event: Javelin throw

Sanni Utriainen won the World Junior Championship javelin title in 2010 at Moncton, Canada.

She is a javelin thrower in second generation: her father and coach Esa Utriainen represented Finland at the World

Championships of 1983 in Helsinki. Sanni’s best result so far at senior level is eleventh place at the European

Championships of 2012 in Helsinki. In 2015 she made her personal best result of 63.03, which put her to fourth

place in the all-time list of Finnish female javelin throwers.
