Mimosa Jallow has emerged as Finland’s best female backstroke swimmer in the past Olympiad. Her rise has also
made Finland a force in women’s medley relay, where the backstroke leg has previously been an Achilles’ heel. In
May 2016 Mimosa clocked her new record time of 1:00.42 in the opening leg to put Finland on course to bronze at
the European Championships in London. At the same championships she also took her best individual result so far,
finishing sixth in 50 metres backstroke. Mimosa’s father hails from Gambia.
