Class: Laser

Finland has always been represented in Laser ever since the class was introduced into the Olympic program in

1996. In Rio de Janeiro the tradition is continued by Kaarle Tapper, who was only 18 when he won an Olympic quota

place at the 2014 World Championships in Santander, Spain. Kaarle has won several world championship medals

in junior classes. In 2010 he finished fourth at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. Kaarle comes from a sailing

family: his father and first coach Markko Tapper finished fifth at the World Championships of 470 class in 1992.
